Abkhazia
Where Ancient Colchis Meets the Black Sea and Stone Churches Hold the Memory of Kingdoms

Abkhazia

I stand on the shores where Greek traders founded Dioscurias 2,600 years ago, where the emerald waters of Lake Ritsa reflect snow-capped peaks, where medieval Georgian cathedrals rise from subtropical forests. This is Abkhazia—a land of profound beauty and layered civilizations, currently under Russian occupation yet inseparable from Georgia's cultural and historical fabric.
