BRIEF DESCRIPTION of the sites:
​

Kutaisi - Kutaisi Georgia’s second largest city,  one of the most ancient cities in the world. A settlement has existed here for nearly 4000 years. Archaeological evidence indicates that the city functioned as the capital of the kingdom of Colchis in the sixth to fifth centuries BC. It's believed that, in Argonautica, a Greek epic poem about Jason and the Argonauts and their journey to Colchis, author Apollonius Rhodius considered Kutaisi their final destination.

Sataplia Cave - 900 m long, 10 m high and 12 m wide and contains dramatically lit stalactites and stalagmites. Sataplia State Reserve is a most multifarious and very rare monument. It is of complex character and contains geologic, paleontological, speleological and botanical monuments. 

Prometheus Cave - Prometheus cave is one of the biggest and most beautiful cave in Europe, which providing visitors with breathtaking examples of stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, petrified waterfalls, cave pearls, underground rivers, and lakes.

Bagrati Cathedral - holds special importance in the history of Georgia as an architectural and cultural monument. The construction started at the end of the 10th century by  Bagrat III - the first king of a united Georgia.

Additional Information:

Ladies require scarves in the Georgian orthodox churches, sometimes skirts too, but they can find some in the entrances. Short trousers are forbidden in the church.
